A unique opportunity for Devon schools this Spring term

Are your students fed up with the rain or hoping for snow? Maybe you're making a newspaper about the floods with KS3 or studying the signs of Spring with the younger ones?
This term Soundart Radio is running a unique project to get children and young people on the radio talking about the weather. It's a great way to learn media skills and build confidence as well as explore geography and science themes.
The workshops are adapted to the age and needs of your group. Students will:

  • Try out field recording techniques
  • Learn about and use a range of microphones and studio equipment
  • Plan and broadcast a half hour programme of weather bulletins and related music.
  • Have fun and contribute to something shared across South Devon schools

In every workshop we'll go LIVE on FM radio and online, reaching listeners across South Devon, including your school community.  Students can access their programme as a podcast on the Soundart Radio website, and in March we'll broadcast the Weather Watch 2016 Schools Showcase, to celebrate the whole project.

Taking part in Weather Watch 2016 costs £50 for up to six pupils, plus £10 per additional child. The largest group we can invite into our radio studio is eight students.
A workshop lasts two hours, plus your travelling time.
We are offering the following slots, 1pm-3pm each day:

Friday 22nd January AVAILABLE
Friday 29th January AVAILABLE
Friday 5th February AVAILABLE
Friday 4th March BOOKED
