About our organisation

We started life in 2006 as an experimental student radio station at Dartington College of Arts. In 2009 we became the community (and still experimental) radio station for Dartington and Totnes. We are regulated through Ofcom (The Office of Communication) and you can download our Key Commitments here ( soundart_ofcom_licence_application.pdf ) and Ofcom Application here ( soundart_radio_key_commitments.pdf ).

We are a not-for-private-profit company limited by guarantee. The station is run by a small management team who take care of the day-to-day running of the studio, volunteer training, programming, income generation, project work and workshops. We run a membership scheme which is open to all. Membership provides training, social and equipment lending opportunities. We hold an Annual General Meeting (usually in November) to which all members are invited to attend and vote on various subject, including the appointment of directors.

We are governed by a Board of Directors who meets four times a year. Current members of the Board are:

  • Nell Harrison
  • Sarah Lawrence
  • David Prior
  • Janie Grace
  • Michael Bassett
  • Fergus Ryan

All members are welcome to attend our Board Meetings as observers. This means that they can observe proceedings, and ask questions during the ‘Any other business’ part of the Board meeting. They cannot vote at a Board meeting.

The Board meetings take place at Soundart Radio on the following dates:-

Wednesday 26 January 5.30pm
Wednesday 16 May 5.30pm
Wednesday 20 July 5.30pm
Wednesday 7 September 5.30pm
Wednesday 2 November 5.30pm
