Totnes Carnival
This year we REPRESENTED!! at the Totnes carnival parade.
We held a free workshop up at the studio on Saturday 13th August, for members and Soundart Radio friends to prepare for the parade, crafting wonderful tuneless scrapsophones, and making purple, green and silver adornments for our costumes- we decided a theme based on the colour of our badge, and made amazing 102.5FM teeshirts.
On the 20th August- parade day- we met at Follaton House in the sunshine for a quick group picnic on the lawn, and to tune in our portable radios- Honkjazz were broadcasting a outrageous live set in the 'carnival style' direct from the studio!
We joined the parade as a 'walking group', following the procession of carnival floats, disco horses and majorettes, down through Totnes- playing 102.5FM very loud and proud, banners fluttering in the breeze, and even enjoying a little impromtu dance. Ideas were bouncing around for Carnival 2012 before we'd even finished the procession :-)
Thanks to everyone who joined in- it was great to let our community spirit translate from 'on air' to the streets of Totnes, we raised our local profile and had a great time!
And also thanks to the Totnes Carnival Committee, who work so hard to put the carnival on every year :-)

Come along to Totnes Carnival to support Soundart Radio. Wear purple, green or silver to join our walking float, and bring a radio. Or if you will be in central Totnes, turn your radio UP for a special carnival mix which will be playing throughout the parade. We will be meeting at Follaton House at 4:30 for a group picnic before we set off at 6. Hope to see you there!
