I have been doing the show since sept 2011 and am starting a new series for 2012
bi weekly. It is basically an art history and culture show but it is also a discussion show. I choose a topic each programme which I script and write myself. I have a degree in Art History and I also have given extensive art history lectures and talks with slide shows. I talk about the more radical and conceptual artists that interest me which are more boundary breaking.
I am also a mixed media artist myself and so I can't help my interest. I dabble with visual art , sculpture, painting, poetry, play writing performance, film, fashion. I jam with musicians and I am also a hairdresser... For me Soundart Radio is a great artistic outlet which I find a pleasure and does not stress me. It gives me a little buzz and keeps my brain exercised on the intellectual front. It also allows me to involve my artist friends to join me and they love it. My sons Romek and Rio actually were the inspiration because Romek did his school work experience at Soundart and now has a music show and I helped Rio and his classmates at Dartington Primary in Art Week do recordings their class radio show. A real Community feel.
I gather some random recordings whilst I am on my travels to use as interval pieces .
For example, a recording of a Harley Davidson motorbike I got to ride on (lucky me!); Aa London bus ride or a recording of birds singing in Malta.
I also feature music from musician friends and family who have gone to the trouble of producing albums or CD’s. I keep all the material original and non commercial. I invite guest poets to recite or interesting people to discuss stuff ie: over population, social riots, snakes and Peru...whatever.
