Bright Sparks

Bright Sparks

Join Bright Sparks and be part of the new computing revolution!

Four sessions to introduce families to the creative world of Physical Computing. We can use inexpensive computers and micro-controllers to create digital devices and interactive objects. Learn how to control LED’s, electronic sensors, motors and more using an Arduino micro-controller and Raspberry Pi computer. With just a little computer coding and electronics tinkering, we can use the Arduino to control circuits that we will build ourselves. Experiment and improvise! What will you do with these tools?

Toby Morgan has taught Physical Computing and Circuit Bending in schools and universities, as well as having a teaching practice in music for over twenty years. His interest in computing started ‘long ago’ with a Commodore 64. The tools available today are far more powerful, are affordable to almost anyone, and have real-world applications.

As these sessions involve computer programming and handling small electronic components, they are not suitable for children under the age of six. All materials will be provided. We will learn together from scratch, in families or small groups. No previous experience necessary. All children need to be accompanied by an adult.

£15 for one adult and one child, £4 for any extra family member.

Four Sunday afternoons: 13th, 20th, 27th Nov and 4th Dec . 14:00 - 16:30

Please book in advance at our Eventbrite page.
